Chad is not your typical southern California real estate agent. He and his brother have adopted a 1 for 1 business model. Chad and his brother Nick Engle have been in real estate for a while. They wanted to do something different, they knew that they wanted to give back in a big way, but they weren’t sure how. After reading the founder of Tom’s Shoes, Blake Mycoskie's book, Start Something That Matters, they knew that the 1 for 1 model in real estate could make a huge impact for many people. The 1 for 1 model is based on the idea that when you purchase something that another thing is donated to someone in need. The most famous example of a company using the 1 for 1 model is Toms Shoes. After coming up with the idea of using the 1 for 1 model Chad and Nick knew they would have to find the right charity to partner with. They wanted to find a charity whose goals aligned with their own and that would be able to accommodate their giving. They discovered the nonprofit, From Houses to Homes, and after traveling to Guatemala they realized just how impactful their idea would be. They got to witness firsthand how they were able to change the lives of families. Since the inception of the 1 to 1 model Casa Real Estate has partnered with 2 other charities in Colombia and Nicaragua as well. Marketing is part of being in real estate. Casa Real Estate is able to use its charitable giving as a part of its marketing campaign. Although the charity side is a part of their marketing, it is certainly not the only marketing they do. Chad and Nick must still service their clients by marketing their homes in the best way that they can. They use Instagram as their preferred social media outlet. A big portion of their profits go to building homes for those that need them, but Chad and Nick feel that they gain much more in return. Chad and Nick are thrilled that they have been able to donate 50 homes for families in need. They continue to partner with charities that align with their values to help do the most they can for the families they help. Their marketing strategies are changing and they have recently hired a videographer to help them with their marketing and branding. Chad loves that the bold model of charitable giving that his company uses has inspired others to take action.
